Impact Evaluation of USAID Kenya Agriculture Value Chain Enterprises (KAVES) Project on Improved Access to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Services for Target Communities in Eastern and Western Kenya (2014 – 2019)

Vital Extra Learning and Consultancies key staff was involved in evaluation of USAID Kenya Agriculture Value Chain Enterprises (KAVES) Project that was aimed at enhancing access to clean and portable water to households and their livestock by promoting rain water harvesting technologies to adapt to climate change through the establishment of underground water harvesting tanks, drilling of boreholes, as well as rehabilitation and improvement of water pans and shallow wells.

Agribusiness Training Consultancy for Tobacco Farmers in Western, Nyanza and Eastern Regions of Kenya; Client (British American Tobacco); Period (May - July, 2015)

This assignment involved training tobacco contracted farmers in Western, Nyanza and Eastern Regions of Kenya for British American Tobacco Ltd. Also included was monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of previous farmers training conducted. The tobacco contracted farmers were successfully trained on important topics such as financial management and planning, record keeping, safe use of chemicals, child labour, environmental health/safety and crop insurance. Our involvement was key in mobilizing farmers into groups that could help them negotiate for better commodity prices and execution of other important common goals.

Data Manipulation and Analysis Consultancy; Client (International Maize & Wheat Improvement Centre-CIMMYT); Period (Jan - Dec, 2014)

This assignment involved data manipulation aimed at meeting the requirements for statistical analysis. Included was also provision of professional advice with respect to data collection, quality control and research database maintenance. This highly successful assignment was key in the development of a quality data that was later analyzed and published into more than 5 high standard papers in peer reviewed journals.
